Investing across all of the Sustainable Development Goals with Allianz Positive Change
Changing the world for good – a mammoth project that will take massive investment
With the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations has identified humanity’s most pressing problems. They range from ending poverty to promoting equal opportunities and responsible consumption. The 17 detailed goals can be grouped into 8 broad themes.
- Social inclusion
- Health
- Financial inclusion
- Education
- Food security
- Water
- Circular economy
- Energy transition
Estimates show that achieving all the Sustainable Development Goals means closing an annual financing gap of some USD 2.5 trillion.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and how they can be achieved
Allianz Positive Change invests across all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Allianz Positive Change invests in securities covering all areas of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The individual investments are divided into 8 core themes and over 20 sub-themes. We invest in approximately 5–10 themes at any one time. As the fund is actively managed, the themes in the portfolio can vary over time to help ensure broad coverage of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Allianz Positive Change – unleashing multiplier effects
Within the individual themes, we aim to invest in the most promising solution providers – i.e. companies whose products and solutions enable other businesses or industries to be more sustainable themselves or create more sustainable products and services. The aim is to set in motion a positive chain of events to multiply the social and environmental impact of the initial investment.

Investing involves risk. The value of an investment and the income from it may fall as well as rise and investors might not get back the full amount invested. Investing in fixed income instruments may expose investors to various risks, including but not limited to creditworthiness, interest rate, liquidity and restricted flexibility risks. Changes to the economic environment and market conditions may affect these risks, resulting in an adverse effect to the value of the investment. During periods of rising nominal interest rates, the values of fixed income instruments (including positions with respect to short-term fixed income instruments) are generally expected to decline. Conversely, during periods of declining interest rates, the values of these instruments are generally expected to rise. Liquidity risk may possibly delay or prevent account withdrawals or redemptions. The volatility of fund unit/share prices may be increased or even strongly increased. Past performance does not predict future returns. If the currency in which the past performance is displayed differs from the currency of the country in which the investor resides, then the investor should be aware that due to the exchange rate fluctuations the performance shown may be higher or lower if converted into the investor’s local currency.
